Jesse Cretney

Born and raised in Alberta, Canada. Too Deep 2020 grew up listening to a wide variety of music.
“Music has always been a passion of mine in many ways, I started writing poetry in elementary school which then developed into rap music when I was a teenager. Growing up in a rural community where hip hop was not as openly accepted. I received a lot of ridicule for my love of the genre and culture.” Being a First Nations artist he has a very diverse outlook.
Hip Hop has been very influential in his life, but not always in a positive light. With that in mind he looks to make music that conveys positive messages and themes that are relatable and thought provoking. With hopes to create a positive impact on society, while also shedding light on issues that resonate with him.

“Music is a powerful weapon, that should be employed with responsibility and accountability! I’m proud to be a part of the underground hip hop scene here in Canada, and across the continent. There are many very talented artists that need to be heard.
A lot of which create outstanding content, which is really what it boils down to in my opinion.
I still love a good feel good beat without any message at all or even something super light hearted. However I strongly oppose the idea of perpetuating the problems that already exist. We as artists need to understand the power of our influence on society, and then use it to lift one another up for the greater good.”

The dynamic contrast of Too Deep 2020’s deep voice and Saint Charity on the chorus’ really brings a multitude of emotion evoking  layers to the sound. Saint Charity is an a amazing vocalist. In the recording booth and on stage. The love these two share for one another is very apparent on and off the stage. Operating under the same frequency of authenticity they electrify rooms everywhere they go holding themselves accountably and responsible for the music they make and the messages they convey.
Breathing life into a genre that has lost its luster to many. Hip hop with a purpose, with the overall goal of creating one of a kind music. That he can be proud to share with the world, his children and the generations to come.

An independent artist, recording and releasing music through his own record label Iconnick Cannon Records.
Since 2020 Too Deep has relaesed 25 songs to date.
2024 they have over 20 new songs on deck for release. in late 2023 the couple started working with well known Engineer Nato Down at Up In Arms Studios. This newly formed relationship has already produced three new songs that are a step up from past projects.
Having toured with Chris Webby , Ekoh,  Anoyd and Justin Clancy last spring.
Opening for several acts including K-os, Afroman , Snak The Ripper and many more. As well as a couple of music festivals. These two really found the pocket on stage and it is notably apparent that they stand out in the genre.

“The love and support along this journey has been amazing! We could not have made this happen without the support of our family, friends and fans! Not to mention all the outstanding artists we have worked with along the way.
The dream is well on its way, not many feelings than finding your true purpose in life .
With the overwhelming support and our continued effort we will complete our mission of bringing wholesome uplifting works of art to the people that need it most!"
2024 is going to be absolutely incredible.
